What is the Distinguished Corporate Governance Speaker Series?

 

ICD’s Distinguished Corporate Governance Speaker Series (DCGSS) brings the world’s foremost thinkers and practitioners to help Philippine corporate directors add value to their boards.

 

This short course supports the goal of the Securities and Exchange Commission represented in The Revised Code of Corporate Governance to encourage the provision and facilitation of relevant annual continual training for board directors.


This quarter’s series is entitled Risks and Perspectives of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Investing with Mr. David Smith of the Aberdeen Asset Management Asia Limited as the speaker.


Mr. Smith is Head of Corporate Governance, a role in which he supports Aberdeen’s Asian Equities and Fixed Income Teams through research and engagement. David joined Aberdeen in 2011 from ISS, where he was Head of Asia (ex-Japan) Research.

He has a PhD in corporate governance and an MA in Corporate Strategy and Governance from the University of Nottingham and a BSc in Business Economics from the University of Wales. He is a CFA Charterholder.

 

He will be joined by Atty. Jose Jesus Laurel who will facilitate our regular forum on Corporate Governance Updates and Atty. Teodoro Kalaw IV who will facilitate the Sustainability in the Boardroom: A Corporate Director's Roadmap.
